Texas Tailwaggers Adoption Application
Buddy is another little country boy saved from what would have been an unpleasant encounter with either coyotes or cars. Now, he needs a family to love and protect him forever.
Buddy is a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix (a Chiweenie) and about 18 months old, He's neutered, up to date on all required vaccinations, de-wormed, heartworm negative and on preventative. He weighs in at a whopping 5 pounds though we hope to put another pound on him with the TLC and good food in his foster home.
Here's the first update from his foster mom and dad -
"All he wants out of life is to be someone's loyal buddy. He is such a sweetheart. He's very smart and understands the "no" word very well. If he puts something in his mouth I don't want him to have I just say "no, drop it", and he doesn't even think twice, he drops it right where he is standing. He knows "sit" also. He does not beg at the table. If I tell him to "get down", he will. He also knows the command "stay". He just wants to cuddle and be by your side everywhere you go. He walks on the leash well, Loves to go for car rides, he does not bark. He is an awesome little dog and deserves a family that can share all that love he has to give. I hope he gets a forever family soon so that he can get settled and live his life surrounded by love."
Buddy is a quiet (NOT a barker) little Velcro/Shadow dog. In other words he wants to be a constant companion. He walks well on a leash, is crate trained and potty trained to do his business outdoors. He wants to be someone's little lap dog. He's a little shy upon first meeting but after a few (3 -5) minutes, he feels like he knows you. He enjoys playing with his toys and really enjoys going outdoors in the sunshine. He gets along with friendly dogs and cats and has not been aggressive to the exotic birds in his foster home. Buddy is frightened when put alone in BIG WIDE OPEN spaces that make him feel even smaller than he is. He also has that Dachshund "want to run" mentality and will dart out the door if the opportunity avails itself. His foster family is working diligently on the "wait, stay and come" commands to help with this issue.
We believe Little Buddy would do best in a relatively quiet home without very tiny children screaming and playing noisily. He does like children but doesn't care for the loud reverberations in a large house.
Little Buddy's Adoption Fee is $180.00.
