My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Angel: a cuddly mature angel who is back in the shelter after spending some time in foster! Her former foster mom said that she has “amazing loose leash walking skills and checks in with handler and goes at their speed. She is a cuddle bug and she loves people and is very affectionate and sweet. She is also house trained, experienced with kids. At home she lives with my 9 year old son and she is also great with my 4 year old. She can stay at home for several hours alone without being destructive. She is okay in her crate, and is still learning positive reinforcement training here. She absolutely loves car rides and will jump right in for some adventure! She enjoys peanut butter kong treats, sleeps through the night and is relaxed.” Although Angel was kept seperate from foster mom`s resident pup (beside walking them together with two handlers), with proper slow introductions she may do well coexisting in a home with another dog.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
