My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

adopted 12/13/21

Adoption Fee: $350.00

Dixie Lou has an angel, and her name is Kristie Bailey!!!  SCMR and Dixie Lou thank you for your love and support!!!

Dixie Lou lived in a crate for her first year, not allowed to play like a normal puppy, but she's making up for lost time zooming around the house and yard. Dixie weighs in at 12.5 pounds and does not need to gain any more weight. At 1 year old she has a great appetite!! Chiweenies can live to 20 or 21 years old. Please see our seniors for seniors policy listed on our web site relating to adopting puppies.

She checked out perfect at the vet and has been spayed. She's a 'Chiweenie'...adorable caramel-colored mix of Dachshund and Chihuahua that is also called 'Choxie' or 'Mexican Hot Dog'.

This little whirlwind needs a family with enough energy to keep up with her. A teenager or two would be terrific or a young couple to train her and take her on adventures. Dixie is house trained but needs frequent 'outs.' She has had a lifetime in a crate so a fenced yard is a must and applications without a fenced yard will be dismissed. She is a flight risk and does not do well on a leash because she can wiggle out of a harness in a flash. She loves to snuggle after she wears herself out zooming or playing with crinkly toys. Dixie does interact well with the foster family cat!

This little darlin' is being fostered in Largo, FL, until a family is lucky enough to add her to their clan.

For potential applicants that are 71+, please read SCMR's policy for our Senior for Senior adoption program, that link is http://scmradoption.com/seniors.htm
