Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at www.seniordoghaven.org under the Adoption Process tab.
Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.
Friendly Casper is ready to fly to his forever home! Casper was a stray who found himself in a local shelter. He is a solid "12..." (about 12 years old, and 12 pounds). He is extremely sweet, friendly with all people, dogs (except overly rambunctious pups) and cats, and low energy. He enjoys naps with his family, short walks around the yard, and more naps in a sunny spot. He is housetrained as long as he gets out often enough. He is able to make it 8 hours through the night, though.
An echocardiogram revealed that Casper has mitral valve disease, which should be well controlled by his medication, vetmedin. He easily takes these pills when they're hidden in his canned food. He is also on prescription canned food plus a probiotic for ID. It has been helping his stools be more solid and regular. He also has very few teeth, so canned food and soft biscuits are his main diet. Casper's food costs about $40 a month, and his medication (Vetmedin for his heart, and denamarin for his liver) cost around $35.
If you want a low key, happy boy around your home than Casper's your man. He is such a pleasant and undemanding little dog!
