My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Weight: 15 pounds
Great with dogs and kids 15+
Requires a fenced-in yard

Some people see the word ‘shy’ and immediately write their own story. Others read the word ‘shy’ and see an opportunity. Shy dogs can easily be passed over when adopters search for the ‘perfect’ new addition. While adoptable dogs in foster have their personalities listed in their bio, an unknowing adopter can ultimately create the same type of shy dog by simply not socializing them as they grow.  Just like us, a ‘shy’ personality rarely defines the dog (or person) and oftentimes there is so much more to ‘see’ and love.

Buck, featured below, has a story. Not all ‘shy’ dogs do - or we may just not know their past. If only they could tell us. Buck was rescued from a hoarding situation and due to this, likely did not have the socialization - or desensitization that he needed. He can’t help his past anymore than the rest of us, but we can help to change his future.

When you get past the words shy or nervous, the very next word used to describe Buck is ‘sweetheart’.

We are looking for an understanding or patient adopter to give Buck the chance to thrive. A fenced in yard and an adult only (or children 15+) home for Buck would be ideal - he does love other dogs and is a good listener.

Buck is five years old, a chihuahua mix and about 15lbs.

Buck is being fostered in Pottstown (Montgomery County), Pennsylvania).

More about this rescue

We believe that every dog, regardless of health, deserves at least a fighting chance to live, to love and to be loved for the entirety of their life. At Mostly Muttz Rescue, we often choose to save dogs suffering from curable illnesses within the shelter system rather than rescuing dogs that will be easy to place.
