My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gene is being fostered in Chicago.

what Gene's foster mom has to say about Gene:
May 6 update:
Gene is maturing into such an amazing boy. He is so full of love and wants to please his people more than anything. He loves to follow us around the house wherever we go. He loves to play tug and wrestle with his housemates. Gene would love nothing more than another canine companion or to be someone's adventure dog. He loves going on walks and exploring the great outdoors.

You would never know upon meeting him that he is blind. He has never let his lack of sight hold him back, as no one ever told him he can't see! Gene visited an ophthalmologist who confirmed that he is permanently blind due to multiple congenital abnormalities. His eyes are not causing him any problems currently but he does have a slightly increased risk of developing glaucoma in the future so occasional monitoring is recommended.

He is a complete stud, who knows how to use his good looks to his advantage!

If you are looking for an active dog, with a heart of gold, and a zest for life, look no further than Gene!

Gene is a super sweet loving boy! He was born blind and has not let that slow him down one bit! He is very confident, and loves to follow his people wherever they go.

Despite his large size, he is still very much a puppy and will need continued training and guidance to thrive. He loves to please and has been picking up his basic commands very quickly.

He loves to snuggle and spend time outdoors. He has a huge heart and is hoping there might be a little room for him in yours!

Because of his size he would do best in a home without young children.
BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
