Arrival story: Due to owner’s life changes these two brothers-from-another-mother are looking for a home together.

SANTIAGO: Brindle coat
Age / Weight: 1.5 years old / 48lbs

LIGHTENING: Tri-color coat. Named for his lightening-fast speed zoomies!
Age / Weight: 1.5 years old / 38lbs

Personality: Best buds, Lightening and Santiago, have got spunk and personality and at that age where they love to play and maybe cause a little bit of mischief. They are so cute together and their life mission is to play and hang out with the humans. Both are affectionate, leaning in for pets with Santiago willingly rolling over for belly rubs soon after he meets you. They can be pretty excitable at initial greetings but can easily be redirected as both are food motivated and eager to please their humans, settling down quite nicely. Both sleep on individual dog beds in the bedroom at night and crated separately when left alone. Lightening and Santiago also enjoy ice cubes from the fridge. When they hear someone getting ice, they bound into the kitchen! These boys also love fetch and have good recall!

Lightening relies on Santiago for confidence and in return, cleans Santiago’s ears and eyes occasionally. He is a sensitive soul and more needy of human attention of the two. Lightening gets motion sickness on car rides so he’ll need help mastering that skill and can sometimes piddle in excitable moments. We think as he builds confidence this will subside. Lightening can sit up pretty and shake paw in the most adorable way! He’ll be your official watch dog, as he hears everything.

Santiago is a silly, sweet, loving guy with a nubby tail who is basically up-for-anything! We don’t think he’s ever met anyone he doesn’t like. He’s that dog that is going to make you laugh at all of his antics. Santiago does like to exercise his chompers so he’ll need chew toys and while he’s still growing out of his puppy mouthing stage, he’s gentle. He’ll need help containing his exuberance of jumping up but with consistency and rewarding his good behavior, he’ll be fine. **Santiago had face swelling after a Leptospirosis vaccination so needs to be watched after vaccines and notify your vet.

Forever home: These sweet buddies are looking for an active family/person/couple that is willing to take in both. Santiago and Lightening have enjoyed freedom of romping around a big, fenced-in yard and would love to really be part of the family. Both are not shy about showing affection, so you must love snuggling! As young dogs, they’ll thrive on routine mixed in with a bit of adventure and a continuation of their training to become the best companions they can be. No electric fences, please.
