I found out on 12/30 that one of the Pawsitive Direction Program dogs from 2021, Zoe, needs to be returned to LARC. As of today, 1/3, I have 9 days to find a foster or new forever home. Zoe graduated from the 14th session of the program, but didn’t get adopted. She started the last session of the program which had to end abruptly half way through because the FDC closed workcamps across the state and we were happy to find a home for her.
Zoe’s adopters let their son take her when he moved out and got married. He decided to enlist in the military and leaves for bootcamp on 1/12 and, while I applaud his desire to serve his country, the decision leaves Zoe in a very sad situation. His wife is unable to keep her because she’s moving back in with a family member who doesn’t like Bully breeds. His parents, the original adopters, can’t take her back due to divorce. Zoe is 6 years old now. She is dog reactive and not a fan of cats, so she needs to be the only animal in the home. She is very kid and people friendly.
From the son: “Zoe is a loving dog. Unfortunately, she needs to be the only dog in the household since she doesn't do well with other dogs or cats. She can be walked, but she doesn't like other dogs walking up to her. Zoe loves to play rope tug of war for instance. Loves to play fetch with a ball, but doesn't really like to bring it back, she will chase it though. She loves to go on nature walks and loves to run around the beach. She likes to just lay in the sun whether it be in the backyard or the beach. She loves boat rides and jumping into the water. She loves car rides and sticking her head out the window. Zoe loves kids and adults of all ages. Zoe knows all her commands. Her commands are sit, stay, lay down, place, heel, house, wait, and take. She is up to date on all shots and microchipped [she is spayed, as well]. She eats Purina Pro Plan for sensitive skin & stomach. Salmon and Rice Formula only. I am currently going into the Marines and they won't let me take my pitty. This beautiful pitty is a great loving dog and I hope I can find her a good home. It would be an honor and truly appreciated to have her in a safe home.”
If you can help me help Zoe by giving her a soft place to land as she loses the family she loves, whether by fostering or adopting her, please send the PDP or LARC page a message ASAP. Interested adopters, please fill out and return the completed adoption application to loxanimalrescuecomm@gmail.com
