Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is our big boy named Cal. He was supposed to be euthanized at the shelter because he was a leash biter. He has come a long way since then with just 4 training sessions. He has improved even more since he met his new best buddy, Cleo who came into the rescue. She is a young pup that has taught him what it is like to be a happy dog again. He will benefit from living in a home with another dog.
He is very driven and wants to learn and please his people. He needs an active family that can play with him and work on his training. He likes to go on walks and is learning to be more confident. He is learning to walk nicely on the leash and should be great if you keep up with the practice.
He lived in a foster home with 2 female dogs and then a new foster home with Cleo and another puppy named Millie. He prefers female dogs. He would not be a good fit with people who have cats, small animals, or a farm. He has not been around kids, but should be fine with most kids. 5+ year old kids would be preferred. He needs a young and very active family.
If you enjoy working dog breeds, then he is the pup for you. He needs to keep his brain working and active. He needs large toys that he cannot swallow.
He is housebroken and crate trained. He used to howl for long periods of time in his crate until we got Cleo and put them together in the same room. They also like when the radio is on in their room. They will sleep in their crate during that day if their foster parent leaves and through the night. Sometimes he will bark for a minute when he first gets in, but will stop in less than 5 minutes once he lays down. He used to howl for 30+ minutes before Cleo was in the picture. If you say, "go to crate", he will walk right in , but loves to get a treat when he does so. If he staying in the same room as another dog he will sleep fine in your home.
