Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello world! My name is Kimble because I used to live like the outlaw from The Fugitive movie. For well over a month, I would spend most of my day in a few sunny spots not far from where my home used to be, all with easy-to-access escape routes to hideouts where no one could follow. My soon-to-be foster mom knew I wasn’t a mean cat because I would meow and talk to her when she came to feed me. I sat and watched her put up some trail cameras so she could see what was keeping such a nice cat like me from crossing over my invisible personal do-not-enter line. She said those pictures broke her heart and made her even more determined to get me because they showed what a loving and loyal companion I am. Every morning and every evening, I would faithfully go check on my old home and sit outside waiting to be fed. After that didn’t happen, I would go to those weird looking wire feeding stations to eat, but never gave up hope or stopped going back home. In fact, one day at my old house, that feeding station closed and I could not run away so I just meowed a little for help. I could see how excited I had made everyone and, to be honest, I felt a big weight come off my own shoulders so I just went on eating the food like usual. But every once in a while just to keep them happy and smiling, I would stop and push my head up against the wire for a head scratch.
I am a very friendly, calm senior cat. I am 13.5 years young and weigh 13.5 lbs. For my safety, my outdoor days on the run are behind me now so I am looking for a permanent indoor home. I would love to have a person or two of my own, or at least a home with a special person that has plenty of time for me. It only takes me a little while to warm up to new people, especially when I am on the receiving end of some good chin scratch action, but once in a while I still demonstrate my peculiar little habit. Sometimes when I first see you I give out a little harmless hiss (never a scratch or bite!) but I catch myself right away and roll it right into a positive meow and lean forward for some lovin’. My foster mom calls it an endearing quirk because it shows her that I remember how I used to have to protect myself, but it is also my way of saying thanks for not giving up on me. She said sometimes where you have been in the past is what propels you forward to where you should be in the future. I think that’s a lot of human words just to say that despite all I have been through, I am perfect just the way I am and I deserve to have a loving family to call my own.
I enjoy my meals, switching my preference between kibble and canned food. At bedtime, my foster mom and I play a game. She puts dental treats all around the room and I follow her and find them, but if I know she is holding onto a few, I will try to skip the work and get her to let me politely eat one or two out of her hand. I also love to be pet and lay down and stretch out so you can do a thorough job. I have big, trusting eyes and when I fall asleep in her lap, I occasionally wake up and just stare at her (to make sure I am not just dreaming that I am safe and warm) before dozing back off. I am negative for feline leukemia, FIV and heartworm. I am neutered, up-to-date on my vaccinations and come with my medical records, including my recent bloodwork. Most of those results were fine but I did have some moderate elevations in some of my liver enzymes so I am currently taking 2 Denamarin tablets a day and I will be retested in the beginning of May. In the meantime, I am just letting the world know that they won’t have to wait very long to start vying for my attention. By the way, the vet said that I “was great” for my exam.
So here I am looking for someone with a comfy lap and a loving hand that needs some regular scratching and petting practice. IS IT YOU? If so, let my TASP team know. You can find their adoption process and application here http://www.theanimalsupportproject.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Adoption-Application_TASP_PDF.pdf
While you’re there, take some time to read about the different kinds of work they do to help critters of all kinds be their best selves and live their best lives. Just like me. http://www.theanimalsupportproject.com/
