Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sally is a wonderful young and energetic gal. She is often misunderstood and was even labeled as aggressive but all she wants to do is play play play. Sally can be very vocal around other dogs because when she sees them, she thinks it is time to play and have fun. She is in no way aggressive and I would label her as an absolute sweetheart. She did grab onto the arm of my jacket to grab my attention, but I corrected her and she immediately let go and backed off, then sat in front of me waiting for me to give her a treat. What I have noticed most is that she is very easily excitable. On the way home I had to stop at PetSmart where she did quite a bit of vocalizing wanting to play with all the dogs inside there. When she seen some children, she was like a bouncy ball wanting them to pet her and recognize she existed. I will attach a photo of the small children she got so excited about and she calmed right down when they began petting her and even got down to their level. She has zero manners on leash and is so busy looking for dogs and people to play with off leash that her selective hearing turns on. She does know her basic commands...but is easily distracted by her surroundings. Again, I noted absolutely ZERO aggression even with me grabbing her ears, paws and staring. During play she does like to jump up on you in a playful way but once corrected she stops.
When feeding her, I was able to put my hand in her bowl and move the food around, touch her nose and pull the bowl away. When I introduced another dog to the bowl, she grabbed a mouthful of food and went off and ate it on her bed.
I brought out toys, she wants to play tug with all of them and will even try to grab them out of your hand (again, not aggressively), then she will run off with it and play with it. When I used the “drop it” command she she did drop the toy, stopped and sat, but when i went to go pick it up she grabbed it and ran off. I tried the leave it command and it was obviously used with her before, but she uses it like it’s a game to her.
She is AMAZing with my little foster dogs and according to her first foster, she did great with their Shepherd.
I believe with training and an experienced adopter, she will be a perfect dog for someone. She is very smart, seems eager to please the person in front of her and is treat motivated which helps tremendously! She is completely housebroken and will give you a bark signal to let you know it is time to go out.
Sallys ideal home would be with someone who is willing to spend the time and resources in training her. She needs activity and structure. Long walks, lots of exercise and positive reinforcement will go a long way with Sally.
Sallys adoption donation fee is $250 to cover her expenses to date.
