Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Diego! Diego is a 1 yr, 8 month old Black Tri Aussie with A LOT of energy. He weighs 45lbs and he loves to play with toys - tennis balls, stuffed animals, tug toys, frisbees, you name it. He is also extremely food motivated which makes him easy to train. He can sit, shake, roll over, weave in between your legs, come, and stay still with treats balanced on his front paws. He's learned each trick in less than 30 minutes due to being highly food motivated. But you better watch out! He will scavenge your home for food and go through your trash bin if the lid is off.
When he's not eating or playing by himself, Diego will be by your side all day long either sleeping, chewing one of his toys, or bringing you a tug toy to play. His favorite games are tag, fetch, tug-of-war, and performing tricks for treats. He can jump over a 3 ft baby gate and run long distances (>6 miles) although he prefers to run at a slower pace or walk. He is very good on a leash but he still likes to stop frequently to smell his surroundings. He would make a good guard dog as he barks at anyone who walks near your property/car and does not befriend other dogs or cats. He is very friendly with guests and gets excited to meet new humans and play games with them. Because of all his energy, he has a hard time being patient and is not yet trained to sit quietly at a restaurant or keep to himself when visiting new places.
He is housebroken, crate trained, and follows directions well (even when he is not excited about whatever you're asking him to do). He can be left alone in the house for short periods of time without having to be crated although if left alone too long, he might take it upon himself to discover new "chew toys" (socks, recycling, slippers). If he gets a hold of an item that he shouldn't have, he might get a bit possessive over it. But he will always give a warning growl if he's really upset and can easily be convinced to let an item go in exchange for a treat. He gets super excited when his owner comes home.
His ideal owner would be someone who does NOT have other pets, has a lot of time to train him to do new tricks/play with him, is excited to have a friend always be their side and is experienced with Aussie behaviors.
He will need a fenced yard with a minimum height of 5ft but no dog parks as he doesn't like that environment. We are recommending Diego go to a home with no kids under the age of 10 years old.
