My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Diana is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), female, DOB: 7/19/20.

Diana may come in a small package, but don't let that fool you - she has an engaging, larger-than-life personality and so much love she is brimming with enthusiasm to share. Highly social, interested, inquisitive, and entirely easy-to-please, she's an extremely sweet, friendly, and very loving cat once she is comfortable with those around her and her environment. Seeking approval from gentle pets and soft-spoken words, Diana revels in being close to people. When its time for relaxation, she enjoys being being close to her favorite people and she will choose loving attention and interaction with her people over just about any other activity.

That’s not to say Diana doesn’t enjoy plenty of playtime and adventurous exploration on her own and with other kittens, too – she certainly does, and vigorous, sometimes ruff-n-tumble play sessions will need to be a box-checked on her daily activity agenda for sure. Exploring nooks and crannies, tunnels and boxes, all the while stalking toy mice and dust bunnies are just a few of her favorite go-to daily activities.

When pets are offered from her favorite people, she shows her appreciation and affection with rigorous purrs and enthusiastic head bumps. An intelligent, super sweet and gentle beauty – Diana is a people-cat and great companion to one and all.

Diana came to Monroe SPCA as an emergency intake when she was a kitten of just 4 weeks. Her tail was one of the worst tail degloves we've seen - from tip to past the base of her tail. Hundreds and hundreds of maggots were embedded in her backside - volunteers had to remove them with surgical scrub multiple times daily until the maggots were gone. And after many baths and many maggots removed, finally, they were completely gone and it was time to heal. Not long after, the end of her tail began to show signs of gangrene and needed to be surgically removed (which was expected, given the damage done). Since then she's healed beautifully and the only remaining sign of the trauma is her hairless little nub on her rear, that still has a bit of healing to do. Her treatment included multiple antibiotics, flea preventative, dewormer, and ear mite treatment while in our care as well.

A healthy, happy, and friendly young cat, Diana is looking for a forever family who’s willing to give her the time and attention a young cat needs to grow into a social and confident adult. We recommend a paired-adoption with her kennel mate, Olive, although a pairing with several of our other young cats having compatible personalities and temperament might also be a good fit.

Diana is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). She is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and she’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

Diana currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.

Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI.
