***Needs a Foster Home***
This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application.

Hi, I'm Chula, a beautiful mostly American Staffordshire Terrier with some Bulldog, a bit of American Bulldog, and with a sprinkle of Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Neapolitan Mastiff (at least that is what my DNA report says) who is in need of a loving home. I was rescued from Animal Services where I was surrendered due to my owner moving and I couldn't go too.

Animal Services had this to say about me.

Chula is a petite lowrider looking for her new best friend! her owner was devastated to have to surrender her after moving and said this about her: 'Chula is protective over me. She's in tune with me when I'm sad and she's always there to comfort me. She's always playful and energetic. She's so silly and rolls around when playing.'

Chula does have some fears and insecurities, especially meeting new people and having her shoulder and legs touched. In one of her homes, she was attacked by the resident dog that resulted in significant injury to her shoulder. Although her shoulder has healed well, this may be a contributing factor to her sensitivities and behavior with other dogs. It will take time, maybe even weeks, for her to become completely comfortable with a new person, especially men. She needs someone who can be patient and understand that she won't be ready to jump in your lap the first time you meet her. A quiet home with no little kids and few visitors will be the best place for her to feel safe and happy. She isn't the dog that wants to be the center of attention at a party - but she'd love to be your sidekick and give you all her love. She is working on feeling more comfortable around other dogs and has learned to tolerate wearing a muzzle to keep everyone safe if she needs to go to a vet or meet someone new and scary.

If you have experience with insecure dogs, a quiet home and are looking for a partner to grow with, learn with, play with, train and love, please fill out an online application to meet her.

*Thank you to the STARR Group for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving her the chance for a better life.

More about this rescue

Canine Adoption and Rescue League is a 501(c)(3) Private Non-Profit No-Kill Organization. We rely on donations and do not receive government, state, or city funding. We operate almost entirely by volunteers.

Since 1996, Canine Adoption and Rescue League has rescued and placed thousands of unwanted, sick, abandoned, and homeless dogs. Dogs in our adoption program are placed in pre-screened, loving and secure homes. We make a lifetime commitment to all of our dogs.

Canine Adoption and Rescue League receives hundreds of calls from people who must find a home for a stray, a litter of puppies or even a family pet.

Canine Adoption and Rescue League's mission is to advocate for animal welfare, seeking to end the needless deaths of companion animals through our adoption, education, and outreach programs.
