My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi - my name is Shila. I'm a senior thought to be 10-12 years old, but don't let that fool you; I have hidden energy that is my super power. I do a dance at dinnertime that could really give those people over at
Dancing with the Stars a run for their money! I have a Beagle sister that I love to pieces (she’s the one with the mostly white face), but I can't say how I would be around any kitties. I'm a petite girl weighing in at about 20 pounds, but that's 20 pounds of solid affection. Foster Mom is always petting me (not that I mind) because she says my fur is so silky soft . . . like butta !! I do have some arthritis in my front legs, so I have a cute little wobble. I take some medicine for that, and it has helped me in my efforts to climb the 18 stairs at my foster home, but so far I've only gotten about half way, so foster Mom just carries me up the rest. The doctor also recently told me that I am showing signs of early stage Kidney Disease. Because it's at such an early stage, I show no signs of any problems. I drink lots and lots of water and do need to eat special food, so that is a big help. I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma in one of my eyes, so I do have to have drops a couple times a day. I did have a mammary tumor removed, but the biopsy came back benign . . . yeah !! Please don’t be discouraged by my darkened legs . . . that’s just staining from being on my own; it will lessen as it continues to grow out. I'm afraid I can't tell you much about my past, but I can guarantee you that a future with me would include lots of cuddles and kisses! Are you up for the challenge? I sure am ! Ask your Midweest BREW adoption counselor to put you in contact with my foster mom if you would like to know more about me!
NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
