Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I was in a home that I was being cared for by an elderly person. My person has passed away so I needed to find a new forever home. The family contacted PAWS to help me find that forever home.
When I came into my new foster home, I was feeling uncomfortable and nervous, and spent the first few weeks hiding under the furniture. As time passed, I started to come out from under the furniture, wanting to be petted by my new foster mom. I do need time to adjust to new people and places, so please be patient with me! I might initially hide under furniture, but with time and patience, I turn into a love bug!
When I am being petted now, I really do enjoy it, purring and rubbing up against my foster mom, so she will keep doing it! As soon as I see my foster mom, I come up to her, rubbing up against her as a way to say "pet me!"
When my foster mom first brought me home, I let her hold me for a brief period of time, even though it was something I was not comfortable with. I currently do not mind being held if you need to move me, but please do not hold me for any length of time, it is not something I like to have done. I am not much of a lap cat, but I will sit right beside you or fall asleep curled up next to you.
I prefer a quiet, calm environment. I am startled with loud noises or if people approach me too quickly; in addition, I also do not like a lot of activity going on around me. I currently am in a foster home with multiple cats and a 8 lb dog. When the cats get close to me, it makes me uncomfortable, and I prefer to be in a home without any other cats. I am fine being around the small dog.
I like to spend my time sitting or laying around, and not much into playing with toys.
If you would like an independent older cat that is loving, then I would be a great addition to your home! I hope you will consider me!
