Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"CODY" -- is an 11 year old purebred Border Collie who has been in the same family since he was a puppy. Sadly, the new baby in the family has just become a toddler, and Cody is not happy with this small mobile creature, and he has been grumbling and even snapping at her. Since the family plans more children and Cody is already a senior, the rest of his life in this household will be plagued by toddlers. He is fine with older children, and quite willing to just move out of their way if they get too rowdy, but toddlers are notoriously relentless.
Cody is overweight and on thyroid medication. He went to day care regularly and gets along well with other dogs. He loves adult people and greeted our evaluator enthusiastically with kisses. He frequently went to work with his owner and everyone there loved him. He loves toys of all kinds (but shreds the soft ones), enjoys water and frisbee, and will toss his own toys if no one will play with him.
Cody likes to ride in the car, he knows basic commands, and he is mostly trustworthy outside in an unfenced yard (except for one time when his family found him down the road herding the neighbor farmer's lambs). Cody chases cats so a no-cat home or one with a dog-savvy cat would be best. He is very affectionate. Cody is severely thunderphobic and needs a safe place (like the bathtub or a dark closet or crated and the crate covered) to go if there is a thunderstorm or he will break through windows and doors. He is better with his owner around, but he still trembles. All in all, Cody is a wonderful dog that desserves a loving home for his senior years and would make someone a wonderul companion. He is being fostered in Maine.

IMPORTANT: You should always choose a breed/dog that matches your CURRENT lifestyle. Border Collies are not for everyone, and contrary to popular misconception, most are NOT typically “great family pets” and “wonderful with children.” (If that were true, there would not be nearly as many in rescue!)
Before inquiring about adopting a dog from us, we recommend you do a little research to find out if a Border Collie really is right for your family. For this information, and details on our adoption process, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.
Please note that you MUST FIRST fill out an adoption application AND have a home visit BEFORE being considered for any NEBCR dog. Our rescue representatives cannot consider you to adopt ANY dog until your application has been submitted and approved.
For more about Cody (including rescue contact information), and for more about other dogs currently available for adoption, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.
