My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rafiki is a special almost 3 year old Doberman. She has Megaesophagus, which means food has difficulty getting from her mouth to her stomach. Rafi will need to eat and drink upright for the rest of her life, ideally in a Bailey chair. She will require equally as special parents, dedicated to her feeding needs. This sweetheart has a ton of puppy energy, and plays just like a normal Doberman. She will need activity and structure like any puppy. Gentle and great at picking up on cues, Rafiki does well with other dogs and cats. She also loves youngsters and is eligible for adoption to families with children. Rafiki loves to camp, hike, and adventure with her foster family. She attends local vet schools to teach them about her special needs, and is a local celebrity. Rafiki has even attended a camp for special needs children. She would make a great therapy dog!

You can learn more about  Megaesophagus (sometimes called Mega-e or ME) here: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/megaesophagus

DHDR will be providing a custom Bailey chair to Rafiki's adopter. If you are just the right fit for Rafi or want to talk about her further, email Contact@azdoberescue.org.
