Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This adorable little Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix) is Baxter. Baxter is 7 1/2 pounds of cuteness and approximately 9 years old. He is being fostered in Bradenton, FL.
Due to Covid-19 dogs being fostered need to be adopted within the state of Florida.
UPDATED BIO 02/16/2021: Baxter has been in his foster home for 8 weeks – and what a sweetie he is! Baxter has let his foster parents know that he would prefer to be the one and only pet in the home. He loves going for walks at least a couple of times a day. He also likes to play fetch with his fluffy toys and enjoys all the attention he can get. There's also nothing quite like catching up on some snuggles on the couch for Baxter, he loves to be petted and be close with his humans. He is a bit timid and shy at first, but once he gets to know his new family - the more attention the better!
Baxter’s previous labs showed that he had crystals in his urine and he had bladder stone surgery in the past, so it is very important that we make sure he is on the correct RX food for bladder health going forward. He has been on his new Rx food for the last two weeks and he thinks it's really yummy. Because of his urinary crystals, he will have to remain on this prescription food for the rest of his life to prevent bladder stones and crystals. His follow-up appointment is coming up in two weeks and we will find out if the food has helped to stop the forming of these crystals. Depending on the results, it is possible that Baxter may be ready for adoption – hooray!
Baxter is friendly with older children and would do well in a calm family environment with children 14 years old or older. Baxter is not friendly with kitty cats, so please consider this before applying for him.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE APPLYING FOR BAXTER:
- Due to Baxter’s small size, he cannot be placed into a home with children under 14 years of age.
- Baxter cannot be placed in a home with cats or other dogs.
