Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
These bunnies are absolute sweethearts! They are so gentle and sweet and are rock stars with using the litter box reliably. They are not destructive at all. Both have sad pasts, and together, they have a left and right eye.
Luna (black) came to us the summer of 2019 from a rescue in Utah. We acquired her as a friend for our first sanctuary bunny, who sadly passed shortly after. She is approximately 7 years old. She was originally a breeder bunny and spent her time in a small wire bottomed cage outdoors. During that time, her right ear became frostbitten and part of it fell off, and she also got a serious eye infection in her right eye. Thankfully she was brought to a rescue and had the infected eye removed. She was a bit shy and skittish, but her little friendly husbun has helped her to become more trusting.
Mr. Susan (white) was one of our very first residents and came to us May 2019 with a serious eye infection in his left eye, which was removed after we got him. He was quite young and initially was thought to be female, and was named Susan. He is so sweet, friendly, and outgoing.
They have been in our care as sanctuary animals, but due to factors including the COVID and the RHVD2 viruses, we have made the difficult decision to allow them to be adopted.
The adoption of Luna and Mr. Susan includes a $75 vet credit, which can be used within 12 months from time of adoption and at the vet of your choice.
If you're interested in adopting, please submit an adoption application at www.hhsar.org/adopt. The adoption fee is $75, which does not include a habitat, cage, or any supplies. We regularly have used habitats, cages and supplies available for a donation fee. Please contact us for more information. We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a shelter location where our animals can be visited. We can arrange a visit if you're interested in adopting, but we require an adoption application to be submitted before.

More about this shelter
We are a 501C3 non-profit licensed foster-based animal rescue. We strive to help as many unloved animals as possible find loving forever homes. Hoppy Haven Small Animal Rescue focuses on small animals who are often overlooked and forgotten. In many cases, the animals are obtained by people who incorrectly believe that they do not require much care, only to learn that they have needs just like dogs and cats. We are here for those animals to help them on their journey to finding the love and care they deserve.
The idea of HHSAR was born April 2018 when a group of ten rabbits were obtained from a horrible situation. They all found loving homes through the help of our friends at The Moon Dog Farm, a Chicago-based rescue. However, we wanted to do more in other parts of the state. There are many rabbits as well as other animals who need help and because of that need, HHSAR was born.
Our goal is to help all animals that we have the means to help, while doing our best to minimize our environmental impact. We also strive to operate with a loving and caring vegan mindset.
We are a partner with PetSmart Charities, which allows us to help a significantly higher number of animals. In our first full month, we had 34 adoptions.
As a non-profit and foster-based rescue, we always welcome donations, whether monetary or items items such as towels, flat bedsheets, rugs, blankets, and supplies small animals can use such as cages, carriers, etc.
