Mou is a complete sweetheart who gets along with everybody! His favorite activity is definitely hanging out on the couch or bed and cuddling with a human. He loves belly rubs more than anything else and always sleeps on his side waiting for someone to sneak up and give him some. When he is feeling extra loving he will crawl right into your lap and ask for a head massage. Sometimes Mou needs a little push of confidence to try new things, but he is a very trusting cat after making his acquaintance. He is alright with being held or carried for a bit but after a minute or so he’ll be ready to get back on solid earth. He also loves playing with his favorite toys and goes crazy for a little catnip, too :) Meal time is definitely exciting for Mou and he loves getting the occasional treat throughout the day as well. Mou loves everyone he meets and takes no time at all feeling totally comfortable in a new home. He seems to have no problem with intermittent noise like dishwashers and laundry, but he might be more comfortable in a generally quieter home. Mou would be a great cat for a less experienced owner or someone who is looking for an easygoing, affectionate kitty. He is just fine being the only kitty, so if you're looking for a single kitty, Mou would be perfect! He promises to give you endless amounts of love and loyalty (and lap cuddles) if you choose him!
Mou is also FIV+ (see below), which isn't a big deal; he will just need a good, healthy diet and to stay inside so that he's not exposed to illnesses. Fiv+ kitties can live with cats that are negative as long as there is no aggression.
*FIV, or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, is transmitted through a deep bite or in utero. It is typically seen in cats that have spent a great deal of time outdoors (like Mou) where the likelihood of altercation with other male cats is high. Cats with this condition can lead long, normal lives, but it is important to keep them indoors and healthy. FIV leads to increased susceptibility to infections and other diseases; if the cat is fed a high quality diet and kept free from parasites and other dangers, then the quality and length of life is excellent. Mou is not on any medications.

Questions? Email us at info@thecatsmeowanimalrescue.org.
1. Submit an adoption application at www.thecatsmeowanimalrescue.org
2. If you have not yet met the cat(s) you wish to adopt, come to an adoption event or schedule a foster home visit to meet the cat(s). Please note that we cannot schedule any private foster home visits until you submit an application.
3. If your application is approved, we will contact you within a week to schedule a home visit. One of our experienced volunteers will stop by your home to ensure that you are able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the cat. We may also provide tips for integrating the cat into your home environment.
4. We ask for a minimum tax-deductible donation* of $225.00 for each cat you adopt from us. Donations may be made online (via a secure PayPal transaction) or in-person via cash or check. If you are adopting a pair of kitties, the donation is $200.00 each ($400.00 total).
*Additional donations are highly encouraged, as they enable us to rescue another cat from the shelter or the streets. Because our organization is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers, we rely solely on donations to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and neglected cats.
5. We will have you sign an Adoption Agreement detailing the terms of the adoption at the time you collect your new kitty. You may view a copy of it on our website.
6. That’s it! You will communicate with the cat’s foster parents to coordinate pick-up. Please always transport your cat in a carrier for safety.
7. We will email or mail you a copy of your Adoption Agreement, a letter confirming your donation, and medical records and microchip information. This usually takes about 2 weeks.
In addition to receiving individualized medical care, we provide the following services to our cats: spay/neuter, microchip, testing for FELV/FIV, flea and dewormer treatments, and vaccinations.
