Here's what the humans have to say about me:
WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA
Maggie is a beautiful, laid back White Husky girl with soft, soulful brown eyes. She and her littermate sister came to SHRF when their family lost their home and had to move to a much smaller condo that does not allow dogs over a certain size.
She gets along with other dogs, big and small; she shared her former home with her sister Husky and a small dog. Maggie’s attitude toward cats is unknown. Since Huskies are prey driven by nature, it is always recommended to exercise caution if there are cats or other small animals in the home or if getting one is being considered.
She is possessive of her food and toys and even though she enjoys the company of other dogs, it is best to feed her in a different corner of a room if there is more than one dog in the home. Maggie can be quite picky about food and her foster found that a diet of plain white rice, baby carrots and half a can of moist food works well for her as a meal. In fact, she very much enjoys baby carrots as a healthy treat! Also, she may counter-surf and try to steal food if it is at eye level.
Maggie loves taking walks but tends to pull. Most dogs can be trained out of this by using a gentle leader like a Halti collar. Once trained, Huskies do very well using a martingale collar. When adjusted correctly, it tightens only so far but not tight enough to choke the dog or interfere with the dog’s breathing; yet keeps them from backing out of the collar. While out walking, her soft brown eyes melt the hearts of everyone she meets.
Like many dogs, she also loves car rides. At home, Maggie loves a nice, soft bed and will go to it when scared or tired. She has never been crated and since she is completely housebroken it is not necessary.
Maggie would do best in a home without young children as she prefers to greet you on her terms and may get nervous if very young children rush up to try to pet her.
Maggie is healthy, Heartworm negative, spayed, and microchipped. Give this beautiful girl a loving, forever home and improve your life at the same time. Fill out an adoption application on our website, www.siberrescue.com, today.
