Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Knoxville, TN: Ford is only 12 months old and has already experienced a lot of pain in his young life. Now that he's healed and healthy, this happy puppy is looking for a forever home where he can get the love and security he's missed out on so far. He can't wait to show his new family just how much love and loyalty he has to give.
Ford was taken to a kill shelter after being hit by a car. His legs were so damaged that he could not walk, so he was placed on the euthanasia list immediately. His front leg was only fractured, but his back left leg was completely shattered. After being rescued from death row, Ford finally got the treatment he needed on his legs. His front leg is as good as new now that the cast has been removed. Sadly, by the time his back leg was properly treated, it had grown so infected that there was no choice but to amputate.
Ford is a tripod -- but in his case, three legs are just as good as four! He will do well in a home with another confident, well-socialized dog -- but not aggressive or an alpha. Ford is still growing and learning about life after puppyhood, so he's ready to soak up all that those arond him care to teach. He looks to his current foster fur siblings for guidance on “how to be a dog." He's finally mastered the stairs with his 3 legs, and BOY is he proud! His confidence continues to build, but his new family will be key in continuing to help him overcome his shyness and insecurities. We're already seeing a glimpse of the marvelous dog Ford will grow up to be; the lucky human who gets to help him reach adulthood will have a forever friend indeed!
He is still a little unsure of slick floors, but he and his foster mom are working on getting around without slipping too much. She has laid rugs down to help him trust. Time is the best medicine.
He is still such a puppy and has that lovable, contagious puppy energy. Even with 3 legs, he can go! He loves to play and like any young pup is still learning to listen. Like any puppy, Ford's confidence is strongest when he has proper guidance and routine, including plenty of time to exercise and play.
Ford is house trained, crated trained, and up-to-date on all vaccinations and preventatives. If you think you can give Ford the perfect forever home please complete an application at the following link:
