My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NORTH NEW JERSEY

SHIH TZU-POO - FEMALE – 2-3 YO - 12 LBS.

Hailey has really blossomed with her foster parents and she LOVES to go for walks and is very curious and excited to meet new people and pups. When her foster parents leave without her, Hailey waits patiently on the top of the couch looking out the window and is very well behaved when left alone and does not destruct anything nor has any accidents. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night and wants to go potty outside in the morning.

She LOVES other pups and would do extremely well in a home with at least one other furry friend that she can play with. She is a super playful little girl and wants a friend (or friends) of her very own. She is very smart and learns super fast. She wants to be a good girl and please her people. She also loves going for car rides.

She had her first grooming appointment and was nervous at first but by the time it was over she didn’t want to leave and ran back to hug and kiss her new human friend’s goodbye! She was also dying to play with all of the other pups that she saw!

Hailey does have a bite history so will not be placed in a home where children live or visit. She was nervous when she first arrived at our rescue and was scared of new people. But now that she has been getting socialized properly, she has learned to trust and warms up much more quickly. To help her acclimate, she is on a light anxiety med that has been working well and at some point, once acclimated to her new home, she may be able to come off it. It costs about $5 per month (Trazodone).

Hailey needs a patient owner who will give her a day or two to warm up. Once she warms up, you will have your new best friend who will give you tons of love and kisses! She should also be introduced to strangers that come into your home in the right way. She barks at them but once you throw her a treat she stops barking and just hangs out on the perimeter checking out everyone until she feels comfortable to approach. She likes to watch from a distance.

As her coat grows in, she is getting super fluffy so we are thinking she may be a Shih-Tzu-Poodle or a Shih-Tzu-Doxie mix.
