My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you're looking for the most adorable and heart warming bonded pair of little pooches, well look no farther! This is also quite and amazing story so please read all about them.

Mia is about age 3 and is from Olton Texas. She was pregnant and due when I picked her up in Dallas back in July. She delivered 6 babies on the transport, three hours into the drive. She was super scared and fearful the few months that she was at her fosters house so she came to stay with me and my pack back in November. Mia has come a such a long way to gaining confidence and being a part of a loving home. She's still afraid until she trusts you, but once she does, she's just a lover. She's fine with dogs, cats, but no kids under 12. They make her nervous and she will bark at them. In time I am hopeful but right now, no young kids. She loves toys, chew bones and stealing my clothes and shoes to hoard in her crate. She's a wiggle butt and she's crate trained. Loves the car but doesn't want you to leave her. She's not a bed hog but you will wake up with a tongue in your eye if you move!

Toby is a Chihuahua Corgi mix that is around age 2-3 and is white and chestnut. He has the corgi legs and crosses them. One ear is frequently up and the other down. Toby is also from Olton Texas but did not know Mia and arrived in November. He had zero confidence and was an extremely anxious and fearful dog but he thankfully didn't bite. He slipped his harness ten days after arriving at our shelter and got loose. The sightings eventually dried up, the weather became harsh and snowed, we lost all hope. Then we had a sighting and managed to trap him. He spent FIFTY days on the loose and covered an expansive area. Ironically enough, it was one of our adopters that spotted him in her yard! Toby has been with me since he was found and I must say, being on his own and having to survive, he's come into his own. He's found his voice, his confidence, his playful side. He's still skittish but he's even handling the cold and snow like a trooper. He's had a few PTSD days but he still wants love and affection. He's crate trained, loves bones and soft cookies. He wants people food and always checks out my trash. He's also a serial licker and cuddles with Mia while sleeping. He cannot get onto a bed, which is a good thing, because he likes to chew my pillow cases! Because he was loose so long, a FULLY FENCED YARD is a must at his forever home.

These two dogs need to adopt out together. Although it's early in their relationship, it was immediately evident that the bestowed a sort of familial protection and confidence over the other. They sleep together, eat together, follow each other around, get into all kinds of hoarding mischief together. They're sure to have their own Tik Tok or Youtube channel for sure! Mia is Toby's emotional support dog. There's honestly know other way to describe them. I think that splitting them up will set them back in their progress and trusting of humans. Why ruin a great thing when they weigh all of thirty pounds together??? :)

If you think you might be this duo's forever person/people, please reach out and apply at www.brasscityrescue.org SERIOUS applicants only. This will be a slow process involving several visits to acclimate the pups to a new home.
