My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Here is what Stevie's foster dad has to say about Stevie:
Meet Stevie, he loves his new life. Stevie has come a long way in the last few months, from a terrified boy, too sick and scared to even venture off a mat and cross a room to a boy that overflows with love and affection. He sometimes cannot contain his unbridled enthusiasm for life and it explodes out of him in a full body wag!

He is learning to play ball, but keep away is his favorite. Once in possession of the ball, he will dash into the bushes and high grass and hide it for himself later. His playful nature is just coming out, but he clearly has a fun-loving goofy side to him. He loves the outdoor life and is at his finest when hiking and exploring the forest trails. He is curious and loves to explore as long as his human is right next to him.

Stevie is still cautious and uncertain in new situations, but once he has given you his trust, he trusts you completely. He listens well to commands and understands ‘No’ and ‘Careful’. He will stop mid-stride if you alert him to danger.

We are working on ‘Down’, because Stevie is a hugger. He shows his love with big hugs, cuddles and sloppy wet kisses. He is enthusiastic about his affection and his big wide smile is contagious.

Stevie is fully housebroken, gets along well with other dogs. He tries to make friends with his canine housemates. He walks well on a leash, but he does tend to zig-zag a bit. Off leash he stays very close to his ‘person’ and listens closely for commands and cautions.

He has a tremendous appetite and eats just about everything he is offered.

I am not sure that it comes through in the pictures, but Stevie is a gorgeous boy!! His handsome coat is velvety smooth, and he moves with uncommon grace. I cannot say enough about this wonderful pup. He charms everyone that he meets.

Stevie would do best in a home with a large, wide-open fenced yard where he can stretch his legs, and run unimpeded. He also seeks a playmate. He is young and full of energy.

Stevie’s forever family should know he will likely test heartworm positive for a while and should be retested every six months until he is negative, and then annually. Stevie is on heartworm prevention the first of every month.
