My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ: Thank you for your interest in one of our adoptable dogs! All dogs listed are still available. If interested, please complete our no obligation application. This can be found at www.waldosmuttleycrew.org. Select the Applications tab, then Adoption Application. THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS. It can take up to a week to process an application. We are an all-volunteer rescue so please be patient.

Our adoption area is limited to a 4 hour radius of Indianapolis. We try our best to provide all information in our bios. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask during the interview process. Some of our dogs have special requirements such as needs another dog in the home or requires a physical and permanent fenced yard. These requirements are not negotiable. Unless otherwise noted, we do not cat test our adoptable dogs. We also require that all pets in your household be spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and on a monthly heartworm/flea preventative.

E-MAILS: We do not respond to e-mail inquiries without an application. We regret that we cannot respond to every e-mail unless you fill out an application.

All the dogs we offer for adoption have been spayed/neutered, wormed and microchipped, are up-to-date on immunizations, have been tested for heartworm and are currently receiving a monthly preventative. If the dog had additional medical issues, those have also been addressed. Visit our website www.waldosmuttleycrew.org for more information and to complete an application.
Frederick Douglas, a 6 year old rottweiler/beagle mix weighing 55 lbs, is the Belly Rub Connoisseur ... he's gotten it down to a science! He's figured out the exact head tilt to use in conjunction with his soft, brown eyes that will make you stop whatever you are doing and give that belly a rub. Freddie is also adept at contorting himself into the ideal position so you can find the perfect spot! Freddie is such a silly boy! And when you get home, he loves to greet you with a hug and a wagging tail! He loves all people, big & small! Freddie doesn't always realize how big he is so can knock "wee ones" over without meaning to so would probably be too much for kids under 8 years of age. Frederick is submissive & eager to please, so learns quicky. He's an active boy who loves to run & play and would be a great walking companion. He does great with other dogs as well; he's just has a wonderful temperament! However, Fred would not be recommended with cats; he gets too interested in them so we can't guarantee that he wouldn't chase them. He still has occasional accidents so will need a bit more work on potty training. He will require a fenced in yard in his new home so that he has room to run.
We rescued Frederick from a shelter 3 months ago where he was going to be euthanized for space. He had a chronic cough that was not going away despite treatments of various rounds of antibiotics and the use of inhalers. We finally took him to an internal medicine specialist had tests run and have found that Freddie has chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchioles in his lungs). At this point, it's a permanent condition that just means he will always have a cough. He will need to be kept on very low doses of steroids (which are very cheap) for the rest of his life to keep the swelling in the bronchioles down and occasionally may need a cough syrup at times of increased coughing. Other than that, he's a very healthy & happy boy. The cough doesn't interfere with his energy or joy or quality of life! And he definitely lives life to the fullest!
Freddie's adoption fee is $200; he's neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations as well as monthly heartworm/flea preventative. Applications are available at waldosmuttleycrew.org . (Indianapolis area)
