Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Here is Sugar's story! She came to us because her daddy died unexpectedly one night just days before Christmas and sadly she was just waiting for him to come home for snuggles. A friend of dad's desparately reached out for help for this dog that she knows was so loved and cared for. The landlord said they could just euthanize her but no way was that going to happen! Her kind veterinarian boarded her for a couple weeks while things were sorted out and we decided to bring Sugar into the rescue even though she ended up not being a Dogo, like her daddy thought! Come to find out, her dad rescued her as just a little pup himself! We've been told he was an Army veteran that served oveseas and had a big heart, especially for animals. He was driving down the road one day and the car in front of him threw something out the window and he stopped because he knew what he saw. Yes, that was Sugar being launched from a moving car but now save with this new human! It truly is heartbreaking that her time with him was cut so short and we wanted to help her in his honor.
Sugar got picked up in Mississippi by one of our fabulous volunteers who took a long road trip and brought her to the good ol' state of Texas! She is doing well and learning all kinds of new things. She did go through some grieving, confusion, and even a little bit of weight loss but today she is doing so much better!! She is a cuddly girl that loves to play and get lots of attention by her people. We know she was around a dog where she lived before and has done well with other dogs where she is. We do not know how she is with cats but that is something we are working on finding out. We don't know how she is with kids either at this time.
This sweet girl would love to find a home and be the center of attention for sure. Sugar will be 2 years old in May and is a healthy young dog with lots of life ahead of her. She really loved just hanging out with her dad so she seems to gravitate to the man of the house where she is now but also does well with the female humans too! Please apply if you are interested in giving Sugar a new forever home!
