Poor Toby was left at a high kill shelter by a family member because his owner was suffering from dementia and could no longer take care of him. As a 12-year old dog with a heart murmur and a serious eye infection, his adoption prospects were bleak. Then The Rescue Train pulled up and Toby hopped on!
His eye has almost completely healed and his heart condition is stable but due to the severity of his heart murmur, our cardiologist estimates his lifespan may only be 12 to 18 months. He is on heart and eye medication twice a day. Despite his condition, Toby is a happy boy who loves to eat, lay in the sun and curl up on anything soft. He is currently living in a foster home with two small, senior dogs who he gets along with. He can be reactive to other dogs on walks but his foster mom is working to redirect him. He is improving everyday is very responsive to treat training. Toby is housebroken but because he is on a diuretic, he also uses a pee pad.
