My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Macy is an approximately 2 year old, 100 lbs. female Pyrenees/Shepherd mix. See results of her DNA test, which includes health information as well. She is house trained (at foster home), great on a leash, and does well in a crate. Macy enjoys long walks, romps in the yard, and snuggles. She will do best in a home with no other dogs and no small children. For Macy, you need a large yard, preferably fenced. She is spayed, current on vaccines, and heartworm negative. She needs adopters who will give her exercise and train her to be her best doggy self.
If interested in adopting, email marysmutts05@gmail.com for a dog adoption application. The Adoption Fee is $400.00. We appreciate your interest in adopting from a rescue organization. We understand the desire to meet our "cuties" as soon as possible, but because we operate entirely out of foster homes, we need to limit visitation to approved applicants only. Once your completed application is submitted by you and approved by MASR, we will be glad to schedule your visit. This dog has been examined by our vet, spayed or neutered (if not previously done), vaccinations updated, heartworm negative, and has been microchipped. Breed Selection is 'Best Efforts' given by shelter staff, veterinarians and rescue volunteers. NO guarantees are implied. We do not guarantee housebreaking. Consistency and patience are key! Dogs benefit greatly from Obedience Training - and we encourage you to check out http://www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com/ . They offer a great discount for training of dogs coming from MAS Rescue! Please note that small breeds are not well designed for families with young children as everything about them is more delicate and will require careful handling. Please be sure you have the TIME to have a dog. Please be aware that it is the opinion of this rescue group, in conjunction with dog behaviorists, that a young puppy benefits greatly with proper socialization. We will only place puppies in homes where they have the opportunity to be with someone all day, travel to work, or have special arrangements, such as Puppy Day Care, Dog Walker, etc. Remember adoption is a commitment for the lifetime of your new furry friend; dogs could live 15 years or more!!

Additional adoption info

Dogs/Puppies are $450.00. For senior dogs (small dogs 9 and over and medium and large dogs 6 and over), adoption fee is $350. Any animal that must be seen by a groomer or has additional surgical requirements may be more. Adoption fees: Cats 1 yr and over - $100. $75 for Cats over 10 yrs. - and Kittens (8wks to 1 yr) - $135.
We do NOT guarantee “housebroken.” If the animal is listed as housebroken it is because he/she has not had accidents for a period of time moving forward in the foster home. Some animals may regress during the transition to a new home which is why we do not provide a guarantee. Patience and consistency is always key.

More about this rescue

We operate a small rescue organization that is determined to help unwanted shelter animals whose time has run out, and their destiny seems perilous. Maryland Animal Sanctuary & Rescue Organization is supported by a select few who have the same passionate desire to save as many shelter animals as possible. Some of our animals come from far away, others come from local Maryland shelters, still others are displaced homeless animals found on the streets. All the animals are "fostered" out of volunteers' homes. They are socialized with children, other animals, and are exposed to normal family life. We do take each animal for a vet check, have them vaccinated, de-wormed etc... If an animal is 22 weeks or more, they will always be spayed/neutered. We require an adoption application, a signed contract and payment of the adoption fee. We will also do a 2 week follow-up check and a 6 month check-up including veterinarian follow-up on your new companion. If you are interested in adopting any of our furry four-legged friends, please visit www.masrescue.org for an adoption application. Please keep in mind: We will not ship animals, but will consider reasonable transport for the perfect home! The animals and I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for considering adoption from a rescue organization!
