My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Coming Soon for local adoption in Birmingham,

Calling all sports fans! This handsome black tri is Garth. Garth is a high energy, high drive, athletic working type that is always on the move. It is clear that in his former life he did not receive a lick of training, so while in foster care he has been working on appropriate behaviors (he's a jumper), basic obedience commands, and leash training. He is food and toy motivated, and should do well with an Aussie savvy adopter well versed in positive reinforcement training or with the help of a trainer.

Garth has loads of potential and his foster mom thinks he would do very well with someone who needs a new agility or flyball partner.
Dog sports not your thing? That's ok if you are an active human looking for an adventure dog. Garth will play fetch until your arm falls off, run until his partner collapses, or hike until you run out of daylight. He is very active and his new adoptive family must be as well. Garth is no couch potato and will require a lot of exercise and stimulation in order to thrive in his new home.

Garth would not do well in an apartment situation and needs a physically fenced yard to frolic and play fetch with his new family in order to help burn off some of his endless amounts of energy (I'm serious here, the fetching never ends) He also gets along with cats (although he thinks they all should want to play with him). He plays well with his foster pack, although he was dog-selective coming out of the shelter, so any canine family members should attend Garth's required meet and greet in Birmingham, Alabama where he is fostered.

Garth is also a bit unsure meeting new people, until they give him snacks....and then he will be your best friend for life, so his new family should be willing to continue socializing him and building his confidence. Apologies, but applications with children in the household under the age of 13 will not be considered due to Garth's energy requirements.
Garth is a super fun dog and will do well with an adopter who loves to be active with their dog, or who may want to dabble in dog sports in the future. He would not be best suited to a first time Aussie owner due to his high drive.

Garth is approximately 1.5 years old, 40 pounds, housebroken/crate trained, UTD on vaccines and neutered. He is fostered in Birmingham, Alabama and a meet and greet will be required.
