Ok, we have been guessing at Ella's breed(s) in the time she has been with us. It is a true guess, we have not done a DNA. But, given some characteristics, we guess that she may be part Anatolian Shepard. For one, she has the double hind leg dew claw, only common to a few breeds. She came to us as a "golden retriever mix", perhaps she has Great Pyrenees, or Akita??
What we do know about Ella, she is an incredibly special girl looking for a very special family. As you can see from her pictures she is a gorgeous, striking dog. She has a luxurious, soft, full coat. Ella gets along great with dogs of all shapes and sizes, although she can come across as pushy to some. Ella does not seem to understand the intensity over his big burly bark and nose nudges to get others to play. She can sound intimidating. She has been introduced to several dogs previously in the shelter and at her foster home as well and did very well.

Ella is the type of dog that loves with all of her heart, she will look deep into your eyes with such a loving gaze. Her favorite past time is following my husband around the yard assisting him on his endless projects(he just retired-lol), I am sure he appreciates all of her attention! Ella is also fully house trained, listens well and is quite the lady.

BUT.....as many incredibly wonderful qualities Ella has she also has some issues. Ella came to us a bit fearful and hand shy, it took a little time for her to totally trust us. She has a difficult time letting her guard down with new people and does not handle introductions well. Ella needs a very, very dog savvy person that will be able to continue to work with her. and earn her trust as well as encourage some more self confidence. She will not do well around young children and will do best in a home that does not get a lot of company. A fenced yard is a must, another active/playful and social dog would be best. Ella would be a terrific companion for a hiker, jogger, a very active person. We do not encourage getting dogs for protection, but Ella by nature is very territorial and certainly let's us know when the Amazon person is on the porch!! Ella is 2 years old, and about 70 pounds.
Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com. Ella's adoption fee is $300, now $250. and she will go home with plenty of supplies to help her settle into her new home.
