My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone. My name is Charlie!

I was born at the end of October 2020 which means I’m almost 1½ years old. I’m not sure what breed I am because I don’t remember my parents. My siblings and I were dropped off at a dog shelter when we were 5 weeks old. The shelter was told that we are a poodle-terrier mix but I can’t say for sure. I have coarse, wavy hair on my back which people love to pet because it’s unique. You should pet me!

I’ve been with my foster family since I was 5 weeks old. All my siblings have found wonderful homes and I’d really like to find one too. My foster mom says I’m the most handsome and have the best personality of the liter. And I must say, I agree with her 100%.

Speaking of my foster mom, she said the three words that best describe me are calm, sweet and gentle. Even as a young puppy, I didn’t have a bunch of energy. My foster family says I have an old soul, whatever that means. Don’t get me wrong, I love to run around and play with my canine foster siblings, but I love, love, love attention from my human foster family. I’ll snuggle up next to you for as long as you’ll let me. Being petted and talked to is my favorite thing to do.

Some of my other favorite things to do is to play with toys, eat yummy treats, go for walks, go places in the car, and, of course, play with the other dogs. I’ve been around cats and chinchillas and neither bother me. I’ll sniff them and then go to find something more interesting to do. My foster family doesn’t have either but sometimes we go over to a person’s house that has some. If you have other pets, I’d love to meet them to see how we interact.

Now for the boring stuff. I’ve been neutered, microchipped, am up to date with my vaccinations, and my heartworm and flea prevention medications. I think I weigh about 55 pounds and am done growing. I’m good with other dogs if I’m not really stressed out. In other words, I like to be calm when I meet other animals. My foster family has fostered a bunch of other dogs and I’ve loved all of them.

I would do well in a calm environment, although I’ve been around babies and children, and I do well. I like to sniff them, gently lick them and watch them. I’m super gentle when I take treats from someone, so you don’t have to worry about me hurting a little one. Little ones are a lot of fun to follow around and watch unlike my human foster brother that is 15 years old. He’s boring because he likes to play video games, do homework, etc. Boring! I love him, but he doesn’t do interesting things for me to watch. Although, his friends come over and I sometimes go to his ball games. He and his friends pet me and play with me. One time, his football team was leaving a game to go back to the bus and ran right by me. Nearly all of them petted me. That was awesome! They’re the best!

If I sound like I would be a good fit for you, please go to toledospetbullproject.com and fill out an application. It doesn’t cost anything to apply, it just opens a line of communication. My foster family will bring me to your home so you can see how I would do with your family in your home. Besides, they need to make sure I go to a safe home. There is a small adoption fee to help pay for my neutering, microchipping, medications, etc.
