My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Momma Cara is a seven-month-old guinea pig looking for a loving guardian along with her four-week-old daughters Dara and Sara.

Momma Cara came to Friends of Petraits Rescue when her babies were only two days old. They have been lovingly raised in a foster home where they were handled from the moment they arrived.

Cara is as sweet a guinea pig as I’ve ever met. Her babies are wiggly as babies always are. They will need daily handling to continue their progress in sociability.

Guinea pigs eat a diet of unlimited Timothy and Orchard hays; a handful of guinea pig pellets, and fresh vegetables including romaine, red leaf and green leaf lettuces, cilantro, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, etc. Guinea pigs, just like humans, can’t manufacture their own vitamin C, so they need to supplement with red pepper and many other vitamin C-rich foods. They are huge eaters and enjoy their fresh foods and looks forward to his daily salads. They whistle, wheek and stand on their habitat walls to make adorable excited noises when they hear their food coming.

Please read up on guinea pig care and diet before adopting by visiting this excellent web site http://www.guinealynx.info/

They would love a home with people who will handle them daily, keep them well fed, and keep their habitat nice and clean.

If you’re interested in possibly adopting Momma Cara and her babies Dara and Sara, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/

They are being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.

Their adoption fee of $60 each benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. For an additional $75, we’ll include a package of absolutely everything you need to care for them including a large cage, litter, pellets, hay, hidey hut and water bottle.

And, yes … Friends of Petraits is handling masked, minimum contact, socially distant adoptions.
