Here's what the humans have to say about me:
As Luna has progressed in foster care, she has become a very loving dog. She enjoys being in the house and being part of the family. She hangs with 4 other dogs and gets along very well. She loves tummy rubs and now plays with toys.
Luna is a smaller female German Shepherd (21”), about 4-5 years old. She has only 3 legs but is not hindered in any way by this except she has reduced stamina. Once she rests up, she’s ready to go again. She loves to be outside to walk, run, chase bugs, and hang out with you. She spends a great deal of time exploring her environment and entertaining herself when outside but she likes to check in with you to make sure you're still there with her. While she’ll stay outside for a time by herself, she doesn’t enjoy being out for long periods of time alone. As with most German Shepherds, she wants to be with her people.
Luna has made tremendous progress in learning to moderate herself when she is in high alert mode. High alert mode will happen when she is running around outside or working on training with her person or coming back into the house after running around outside. She has learned to ‘settle’ and to stay back (so that she’s not invading personal space). A quick reminder is all she needs if she does get over-exuberant.
Luna enjoys training & she is very treat motivated. She responds extremely well to verbal commands. Her new handler has to balance between enforcing the rules and encouraging her. Luna could easily be a dog that learns a dog activity such as tracking, barn hunt or scent work.
Luna is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, & heartworm tested (negative). Luna came to us with a broken pelvis but that has all healed now and her movement is normal. She will need a moderate level of exercise but probably can’t handle a high level of exertion. Please call if you’re interested in talking with us about her. (505) 877-7352.
