My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SPECIAL NEEDS

Tuxedo is a beautiful cat with an equally beautiful soul. She loves to be petted and cuddled in your arms as well as on your lap. Boy, does she purr! Not only does she purr when to show you she loves the attention;,she also wags her tail, and she will meow loudly to let you know when to stop.

Tuxedo is an adult cat with a couple of special needs. We are told that she is 8 years old; but she may be a little older. Her lab work is all good except for the start of some kidney disease. We are feeding her a prescription kidney food to prevent further kidney disease. We know that Tuxedo is blind and suspect that she is deaf. Tuxedo has a very loud meow. We presume that is because of the suspected hearing loss. If a vocal cat is not for you, then Tuxedo is not a good fit. However, if you find her overzealous meowing as charming as we do, then she could be the cat for you.

Her special needs don’t get her down. Tuxedo likes to settle herself in a small space and branch out from there. She will get up, roam around, and explore her new surroundings; but since she can’t see, she needs to be adopted into a very cat-proofed home. Tuxedo feels secure in a comfy padded cardboard box with windows and doorways. Come down to her level, sit on the floor with her and she’ll come to you. Or sit on a chair and put her on your lap. But, you must always put her on the floor when you’re done. When you pick her up, hold her close to your body and have your arm under her, where her feet are, so she feels secure. When you approach her, keep your hand extended, so she can smell that you are there. She will give a few loud meows while she sizes you up, then a few more loud meows to tell you that she loves the attention.

Tuxedo became part of the PPAH rescue network when her elderly owner could no longer care for her.

Tuxedo does not seem comfortable with other pets. She becomes insecure with her surroundings when she thinks she has another pet to contend with. Tuxedo is a special cat in many ways. According to her foster mom of 11 months, “Tuxedo has her issues - But, she is a very independent, vocal and a good girl.” We’re sure the right person will come along and will be as charmed with her as we are.Tuxedo does not seem comfortable with other pets.
