My story

MEET Calvin! – When Calvin first joined our rescue, he was skittish and unsure of everything but his foster dad. Now that he’s been with us for a while, he has relaxed and has proven to be quite the sweet heart! His foster family says that he doesn’t know how to play, no matter how often they encourage him to play. He can still be leery about new experiences, but does need someone who will be patient and let him learn to trust at his own pace. Calvin is a very active dog, weighing around 75 pounds (give or take a few pounds) and would do great with an active family. Our ideal adopter would be someone who loves to hike, someone who is able to spend a great deal of time at home with him to provide the attention he needs and deserves. Calvin loves and does well with other dogs. He is currently living with two smaller dogs but it would be great if Calvin’s adopter had a canine companion that can show Calvin the ropes. Based on his reactions on walks, Calvin would do best in a home without cats and his adopter should note that he fixates on squirrels, whether in the yard or on walks;-). We don’t know how Calvin is with children but are requiring any children in the home be at least 13 years old and are dog savvy. Calvin is a healthy boy but does need a slow bowl for his meals as he tends to be overenthusiastic about eating, which can cause digestive issues.
