Simply put, Levi is a dream. Levi is a young 1 year old retriever lab mix ready to find his furever family. He’s sweet, affectionate, and highly intelligent. He wants to be your best friend and will reward your love and affection ten-fold. Levi learns commands quickly when rewarded with praise and positive reinforcement. He rarely barks and loves to please. In two short weeks, he now sits on command, comes when he is called, knows his name, stops when told “No”, is leash & harness trained, is 99% housetrained, and is growing more and more comfortable in his crate. Levi is playful and would love nothing better for you to roll around on the floor with him, but he can quickly become excitable. Levi is learning not to jump on people and not to “mouth” you (put your hand, arm, leg into his mouth and hold you gently with his teeth). He loves our Caviler King Charles and cat and just wishes they would play with him. Small children, loud/barking dogs, and aggressive people give him a lot of anxiety. He will need further gentle socialization to different people, dogs, and environments (it was clear that he had never been to a park before). Someone who could be home a lot with him to further build upon the trust and training he’s showing would be essential. Levi’s transformation from a terrified shelter dog who couldn’t even walk – to this handsome, loving boy has been amazing - and so rewarding to watch!
