My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Astra - Siberian Husky - Female - 2 Years - www.twyla.org

If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org

Meet Astra: this GORGEOUS Siberian Husky girl has it all: she's got the looks, she's got the smarts and she has the personality - all she needs now is a home! Astra came back to us due to no fault of her own, her owner was overwhelmed and Huskies in general are a bit high maintenance as they require lots of regular exercise, a good amount of training and patience and some grooming and if not provided with that, they will find themselves in trouble.

Astra is  no exception, she is very smart and energetic, LOVES people and attention, and LOVES to run and play. She is very affectionate with people and walks pretty well on leash, she has even learned to run next to a bike and she is very much enjoying the extended runs she can get this way. Astra can get along with some dogs, but she can be a bit bossy and sometimes sends the wrong body language to reactive dogs, so some dog experience and active management is recommended for living with another dog. She is great with older kids, but would not be recommended with younger kids due to her exuberance at times. Astra is an expert snuggler and loves to sit on your lap while you watch TV. Yes, she is a Lap-Husky - good thing she is relatively small at 43 lbs. Astra follows her person closely through the house during the day and likes to stay close, so she will likely do best with someone that his home a lot. As she can be a little rude when meeting new dogs, she is not a good candidate for dog parks, so she would likely not dog well in an apartment complex where meeting new dogs would be a daily think. A private, securely fenced in yard would be best.

Astra is looking for a dog experienced home, preferably with Husky experience as she requires lots of exercise, some training, a good amount of patience and very solid fencing, as well as secure indoor containment, if left unsupervised. She can live with another patient and calm dog, but might do best as an only dog, as long as she get adequate exercise and training and attention. She will repay you with lots of snuggles and kisses and the privileges to walk around town with one of the prettiest Huskies out and about!

***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
