**** SPECIAL NEEDS PUPPY IN A WHEELCHAIR *****
Age: 4 months as of 11/25
Weight: 29 lbs as of 11/25
Gender: Female
Breed: Pit bull mix
Meet our newest little special needs girl Hazel. When our SC partner shelter reached out about a little paralyzed 9 week old puppy who was surrendered, we couldn’t say no. Even though we have taken in several major medical dogs, we just couldn’t leave her in the shelter like this.
Hazel is now safe with our foster and was seen by a neurologist where she had extensive tests run. They found she had no neurological anomalies , and tested negative for all bacterial and viral infections. She's made small improvements since then, and now has some feeling in her back legs. However, her prognosis for walking is very poor, and we anticipate she will never gain use of her back legs and will be wheelchair bound for the rest of her life. Fortunately, she has learned to love her wheelchair and zooms around her foster mom's yard! Hazel seems to have slight control over defecation, but does not have control over urination. She wears diapers inside to prevent any messes!
Hazel is sweet as can be a loves playing with her doggy friends and getting snuggles for her humans. She is looking for a special adopter who understands her special needs and is ready to give her all the love, care, and attention she deserves for the rest of her life.
