Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"SEBASTIAN"-- is a 15 month old (Born 12/28/2003) bundle of energy! He is a little shy at first, but will quickly warm up if you have one of his favorite things in life - a ball! Sebastian is very bright, and agile, and gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. He is also fine with cats, but, as with any Border Collie, if bored and without enough outlets for his energy, that could also become a new favorite activity. He was living with a young child in his old home and was very good but his activity level was such that it was hard to manage both a toddler and a very active border collie.
Sebastian is crate trained, house trained, and knows some basic commands such as sit and down. He will occasionally forget and leap up to check out your countertop, but we have found that some curlicues of duct tape, sticky side up, will deter him if you have to turn your back. In our "Bringing Home Your Rescued Border Collie" section, we talk about leaving a leash attached for your new dog to drag. This will be a MUST for Sebastian as he is a bit shy and by leaving the leash on, you will be able to build a trusting bond rather than if you go and grab for his collar right away. You will eventually be able to leave it off as you see his trust build, but it will be necessary at first in order not to scare him.
Sebastian is also very loving to his people. He will lean into you for hugs and pets, and will also stand on his hind legs in order to give you big hugs so you can love him up. It will be up to you if you want to allow this or not but you will need to be consistent about it once you decide. We have been working on keeping all four paws on the ground as that seems to be the way most people want to be greeted by dogs during mud season here on the farm.
Sebastian is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm and lyme negative, microchipped, and on preventative. Obedience will be a requirement of his adoption.

IMPORTANT: You should always choose a breed/dog that matches your CURRENT lifestyle. Border Collies are not for everyone, and contrary to popular misconception, most are NOT typically “great family pets” and “wonderful with children.” (If that were true, there would not be nearly as many in rescue!)
Before inquiring about adopting a dog from us, we recommend you do a little research to find out if a Border Collie really is right for your family. For this information, and details on our adoption process, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.
Please note that you MUST FIRST fill out an adoption application AND have a home visit BEFORE being considered for any NEBCR dog. Our rescue representatives cannot consider you to adopt ANY dog until your application has been submitted and approved.
For more about Sebastian (including rescue contact information), and for more about other dogs currently available for adoption, please see our web site www.NEBCR.org.
