My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Baby is a happy dog at the rescue but is not going to show well.. He was used to breed, arrived frightened and completely unsocialized and after 2 weeks of leaving him alone, he began to learn to trust and has become a loving little guy although still fearful and ready to avoid even us when we call his name. So he will not show well, We adopted him to a single human home and he regressed but it was the wrong home, no stimulation, no other dogs and he has fun with dogs and that is why we hope he can go with Goldie who he seems very happy with and a lovely little dog.. But if you have a dog who Baby could bond with, even better. Baby runs and plays and does happy dances and wags his tail but still will keep to himself when approached and is currently happiest being left to his own devices rather than approached by people. He seems to thrive on activity and commotion of the dogs. He will still take going slowly and no false moves until he settles in with someone when it comes to the one on one with humans. The potential is there but for now it will require time and patience. Since Baby has the potential to chomp on a hand( though not without warning and not in a way that will cause great harm), he should have an experienced and tolerant owner who will respect him and care deeply for what he went through during his formative years. He will be an expensive dog to maintain, needing to be groomed frequently; his breed is considered high maintenance and unless regularly groomed will end up a mess like he was when we got him (his hair is VERY long).. He also needed a dental at the young age of approx 3 so be prepared to be able to afford frequent dental needs going forward. We are asking an adoption donation of 225.00, an application and that he be placed with Goldie, a very loving shy dog. An active lifestyle with a fenced yard and space to run and play and humans willing to TAKE THEIR TIME getting to know him. I carry him around but on his terms and generally when he tires in the evening after a day at play.
Re: adoption fees. MCR is not a 'boutique' rescue; we take in the dogs no one wants, often in terrible condition, with missing fur, one eye and who, to use the old phrase, "only a mother could love". So if you question the adoption fees on our young dogs or our full breeds and puppies, please understand we do that in order to help our many undesirables who need much vet care and stand little chance of leaving. We often take in dogs from people who can not afford surrender fees and are in need of extensive care. Local animal services and humane societies are better "deals" for dogs and we highly recommend your checking those local facilities for wonderful companions. Note too, we are the rare rescue that will take a dog back for any reason at any time. And we have spent more on Baby than the adoption fee we are asking.
