My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Max – An energetic playful pup, who is great with children!!

If you are looking for a super handsome, personable young pup…look no further! Max is here!
Max is a very energetic boy, believed to be a Lab / Great Dane Mix, possibly a bit of Pitbull too!

He’s about 1.5 years old, and typical of Labs of this age, he’s full of energy and can be a bit of a challenge to those trying to train him. It’s not his fault though.

Max found himself at Chicago Animal Control when his family no longer wanted him. It is very obvious they never spent any time with him, and certainly never put any effort into training him with even the most basic of commands. So, he arrived at our Safe House, somewhat of a “wild child!” The good news is however, that Max is eager to please, and is a quick learner. He just needs someone to pay attention to him, work with him, and help him evolve into a perfect family member!

The ideal family for Max is one with extensive dog experience with high-energy dogs, a fenced yard for Max to run and play, possibly a canine companion of comparable size, and most importantly the time and commitment to Max’s care and training. In spite of his current lack of manners and bubbly personality, Max does well with and is respectful of children as long as they do not tease or hurt him.

He is not at all aggressive but is strong and relatively large (60 or so lbs). He is working on leash manners; it’s obvious he had no experience at all being leashed in the past. Max seems to really enjoy being outside. He absolutely LOVES people as well as the attention he can receive from them!! In spite of his high energy and playfulness, we are finding that Max can also be calm and chilled if around his people.

BAARK is investing in a professional obedience training program for Max, beginning early January. We want to move Max from his trainer’s location into a forever home of his own, so his family can continue to work with him on his manners and take over where his professional training left off. So…Max’s new family, in addition to adopting an absolutely awesome dog, will be adding a well mannered new family member to the family.

Max is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm preventative.

If you are interested in adding this handsome personable pup to your family, and meet the requirements noted, feel free to contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.
