Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Porphyry, a sweet four month old tortoiseshell female. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines, pending a rabies shot. Although she had fleas, ear mites, worms, and an upper respiratory infection upon entering our care as a feral, she has had a clean bill of health for months with no signs of illness or preexisting medical conditions, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIP. She has made a complete turn around from the scruffy little kitten we first met! Although shy around strangers (particularly men or tall individuals), she is highly food motivated, and with an hour or two of patience and some wet food, she'll soon be sleeping on your lap. We have had wonderful success introducing her to strangers who she then recognized as friends upon their next visit. She has a loud purr, loves lower back scratches, and will come running when you "click" or "pspspss". She does not bite, nibble, or scratch hands or body parts, but has a tendency for vertical scratching, so we advise multiple scratch-friendly surfaces to satiate this need if you are concerned about furniture, although she has only scratched her foster family's couch a handful of times. After redirecting this to different surfaces (such as a cat tree or scratching post), the couch scratching behavior has completely stopped. We do not believe a home with dogs, heavy foot traffic from multiple new guests, very young children or many loud noises would be suitable as she is somewhat timid and prone to being startled and hiding, although she is an absolute cuddle bug who sleeps in bed with her foster parents and snuggles regularly with her two older foster siblings and one younger foster brother. Although she would do wonderfully in a home with other cats or kittens, we also believe with her somewhat shy demeanor that she may also be suitable for a home where she is the only cat, if provided with plenty of stimulation and human interaction.
