Here's what the humans have to say about me:
YES! Duke is gorgeous. But there is much more to this amazing boy than good looks.
Duke is a 8 month old, 35 pound adorable puppy who lives to love and be loved. He has inherited the best traits of both of his breeds known as a Basset Heeler: His Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) side is extremely intelligent, loyal, quiet, a fast learner, a keen observer and desires to be part of a close family pack; his Hound side is soulful, gentle, sweet-natured, loves everything and everyone, a follower, and craves to be loved.
Currently in a foster home, Duke is mastering sit, stay, come, off, and wait. He is gaining confidence on leash and is potty trained. He can be shy at first meeting new people, but once he knows you are worthy of his trust, you will very quickly have his unending devotion. Duke is a dedicated, devoted, protective companion with much to offer his family.
We are looking for a breed-experienced (this breed is not for first time dog guardians) very active home with a fully-fenced large yard, rural property (no city lots for this boy). Home ownership is required. His high energy level requires daily walks for mental stimulation, physical exercise and continuation of socializing.
We will only consider a home with a young medium sized dog similar in age and energy with a gentle, dog-loving temperament. Duke finds support and deeply connects with other dogs and we are committed to giving him everything for his best life.
Positive fear free puppy training classes are recommended. Older children 12+ are recommended since Duke is very energetic.
Only serious inquiries who meet all of the above requirements should submit an application from our website - www.hearts4doxiesrescue.org
Located: Issaquah, WA
Duke is a Hero Dog where a portion of his adoption fee will be used towards someone less fortunate.
