My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Booca is a VERY nice dog. All three of the HSCC volunteers who helped take her pictures and videos had a long discussion about her possible breed combination. We finally settle on Pug/Skipperke, but honestly, it's anyone's guess. What we do know is that Booca is a very loving, obedient girl who simply wants to please. She is a small/medium sized dog with attentive, standup ears and a cute, little nose. Booca only has a few more days left here at the shelter. Please hurry if you think you'd like to adopt this unique little girl.

- Approximately 1 to 2 years old
- Weighs ~ 15 to 20 lbs
- Will be Heartworm tested & Vaccinated prior to placement
- Booca will be spayed before she goes to her furever home.
- Shelter hold is up on 10/12/09.

Cherokee Shelter animals have only 5 days to find a home or rescue group. The Humane Society of Cherokee County’s volunteers work to save as many animals as possible. The $85 adoption fee includes Rabies and DHPP vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchip, and heartworm test.

We are very rescue friendly and try to make it as pleasant as possible for rescue groups to save Cherokee Shelter animals. Please contact us via email at cherokeeshelter@gmail.com regarding rescue policies and pricing.

Because of the short time we have to place animals, and the lack of a veterinary clinic at the shelter, neither the Humane Society nor Cherokee County can guarantee the temperament or health of any animals made available for adoption. We will never knowingly place a dangerous or sick animal. It is impossible in the shelter environment to reliably test dogs with cats or small children. Sometimes the stressful environment may create fearful responses even with other dogs that would not occur in a normal home setting. All animals are not compatible with all families, and we reserve the right to refuse adoption when we think the placement may endanger either the pet or the family.

All rescued/adopted pets must be picked up the same day as their veterinary services. Otherwise boarding and additional payment arrangements must be made in advance.

The Cherokee County shelter is located in Gaffney, SC just a few minutes off I-85 and only about 20 miles northeast of Spartanburg, SC and about 50 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC.
