Skylar von Roxy is a delightful 4 year old Shepherd mix. Sweet, friendly Skylar (who answers to "Sky") is a fun mid-sized girl who is up for anything. Skylar loves people, has done well with children, and enjoys being active and goofy. Previous owners loved and cared for Sky and say she is a sweet and loyal girl who is housebroken and crate-trained and can be trusted in the house and yard. At the rescue she is friendly with everyone and generous with kisses. A smart girl, she knows her "Sit," "Come," "Paw," and "Down" commands. She does need an experienced owner to reinforce her leash training and not allow her to run free. Skylar does well in playgroups with mild dogs, esp males and even likes to play with some of them. She says she is a definite no for cats or small dogs, however. Skylar is ready to settle into a bed with her name on it and love you for a lifetime.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Skylar von Roxy YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org
Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
