Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Charles, affectionately known as Grandpa Charles or Papa to his foster family, is ready for his forever home. Ten years old and 44#, he is a red bi Aussie who is always happy to greet people. He loves short walks and hanging out with his people, always happy to get lots of pets. He walks nicely on a leash and would be your best buddy on leisurely strolls, as he’s never in a hurry.
Charles has a funny way of greeting people, spinning in circles with excitement. He’s a well-behaved, obedient boy, but if he ever does get told “no”, he’s a real softy and will go pout until you find him and tell him he’s a good boy.
He’s good with other dogs, cats, and people of all ages. He does like to have his food to himself, so would be best fed in his kennel, away from other dogs and cats.
Charles is good with baths, brushing and nail trims. He would be fine with other dogs in his new home, or would be happy as an only dog with lots of attention from his people. He’s just a laid back, happy boy.
When Charles was at the local shelter, he was found to have heartworms. He completed treatment in early Oct. and has done very well. He has an underactive thyroid gland and will need to be on a thyroid replacement medication lifelong, but he’s a good boy about taking his medicine.
Charles is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and on monthly preventatives. He is being fostered in Ottumwa, Iowa.
