10/24/23.Jack has little vision perception now. He's not able to keep his crate dry overnight. He may not be with us much longer. Jack came to us after being placed unsuccessfully in two homes in less than a week. We were told he's a Yorkie, but he looks more like a Silkie to us. His original family had surrendered him to a shelter, probably because they did not want to deal with a dog getting older and blind. When Jack first came, we believe he was able to see shapes, but now he acts more like his vision is totally gone. He's learned "the lay of the land" and can walk thru the house, down the hall and out to the yard, and how to find his crate a bed time. He does not like large dark dogs, and can also find the frail dogs that he wants to dominate. He walks well on a leash but here does his business in our fenced yard. If Jack is in a home with other dogs, he will need a human that can help him be nice around the other dogs and not let him be a bully. He's really a sweet boy, but he's probably taken this attitude as he lost his sight. At Christmas, he loved attention from our 3 granddaughters ages 9-11. If you feel you are the right home for Jack, please complete our application found at www.bongosbuddiesrescue.com for more information and to set up a time to come meet Jack.

Upon receiving a completed application, we will contact your two personal references plus your veterinarian, and then schedule a home safety visit with you. We do have all adopters sign an adoption contract and ask for an adoption donation (dependent on the age of the dog) to help defray the costs of vetting the dogs in our care. We prefer to not place our dogs in homes where there are children under the age of 10. You must be able to pick up your dog - we do not use commercial transportation methods.

More about this rescue
We have seen the need to provide more foster home environments for dogs needing a second chance, so our rescue was just founded at the beginning of 2016. We welcome donations to help with the care of our foster dogs, and we also welcome local people interested in fostering or helping us in any way to fill out the volunteer application.
