My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darby tested negative for both FELV and FIV when he was a kitten. After he got adopted, he ran a very high fever and his adopter took him to her veterinarian. He tested FIV POSITIVE then and the vet recommended euthanasia but the adopter and Kathy Carlson said no and Kathy took him home and nursed him back to health. Darby was returned to his adopter but she developed allergies to Darby and returned him to the rescue.

Darby had to have all of his teeth removed due to severe stomatitis.

Darby developed DRY/Neurological FIP and started his FIP GS Treatment on February 8, 2023 and finished his GS Treatment on May 2, 2023. Darby was deemed CURED of FIP on July 26, 2023!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to save companion animals in local shelters.

We are implementing innovative & progressive ways to help shelter pets in the Memphis & Mid-South area after studying the best practices of other cities. We are currently focused on helping the healthy and treatable pets who are at risk in a shelter, by rescuing the pets who are at the greatest risk and helping owners with alternatives to shelter surrenders.
